- Bio
Originally from Northwestern Ontario, Crystal Koskinen moved to Toronto to further pursue her artistic passions. Crystal holds a combined Honours degree/diploma in Visual Arts and Arts Administration. Her work has received numerous awards and can be seen all across North America as well as in some local lounges, law offices, tattoo parlours and home collections. In Thunder Bay, her large charcoal piece “Ode To Broadway” won the People’s Choice Award, as well as the Jeremy Baig award when shown at the Thunder Bay Regional Art Gallery exhibit near the end of her schooling. While completing her studies she also volunteered as the Youth Governor of Ontario for the Canadian Red Cross Society where she developed educational programs on critical world issues for communities which inspired her large life-like charcoal drawings. Many of these drawings have been revitalized into new pieces as Crystal enjoys using elements of her ‘older’ work to create new collage work. She regularly donates pieces to the Sunnybrook Hospital for various auctions and received “Best Sketch” as a professional artist at one of the shows. Crystal now primarily works on large surfaces and mainly in oils and mixed media.
As a performer, Crystal trained with Second City and completed their conservatory program and masters class in improv. She is currently training with the Kate Ashby Academy and performs with the female group Babeprov. Crystal teaches visual arts, theatre, and writes and directs childrens productions throughout the GTA.
